Tigers' Weight Room at Football Operations Center Ranked No. 2 In The Nation By ESPN.com
With summer weight lifting and conditioning in full swing for teams across the country, Bruce Feldman of ESPN.com polled NFL scouts, college administrators and college/professional coaches to rank the nation’s top collegiate weight rooms. LSU’s weight room at the Football Operations Center was ranked as the second-best facility in the nation, according to Feldman.
The facility, under the direction of strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffitt, opened in 2006 and features 16 multi-purpose platform, bench, incline, squat and Olympic lifting stations along with 12 dumbbell bench stations. It is one of the foundation’s of LSU’s success and it is here where the Tigers conduct their “Fourth Quarter Strength Program.” State-of-the art equipment and graphics are a part of the complex. Said Feldman, “The Tigers program has quite a legacy going back over 50 years to the days of pioneering strength coach Alvin Roy. Unlike a lot of other big-time programs, the Tigers facility, aka "The Complex," is just for football only. One source praised it for the graphics and coloring of the complex, talking about the great energy of the facility. Another pointed out that the set-up is smart in that it also opens up to their indoor facility as well.” Here is the complete list of weight room rankings in ESPN.com’s poll: 1. Texas2. LSU
